I recently used Bowwout, a service that provides end-of-life care for dogs in the comfort of their own home. They helped my best friend, Digit, pass on gently and with thoughtful respect. Being at home made all the difference. Digit was in his own bed, surrounded by familiar comforts, with me sitting beside him. The energy in the room was sad but calm and serene. Liz, the Bowwout professional who assisted us, was incredible. She ensured Digit slipped away peacefully, with no stress or pain, as if he were simply drifting off to sleep. Liz also supported me every step of the way, explaining each part of the process with care and simplicity. She never rushed me and gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye. Her presence was reassuring and compassionate, making an incredibly difficult moment feel manageable and dignified. If you’re unsure about saying goodbye to your pet at home, don’t be. Being in a familiar space creates a deeply personal and special memory to look back on. I cannot thank Bowwout enough for the kindness and respect they showed both Digit and me during this time.
